\u201cIt’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown\u201d is the theme for the 14th fall festival at the Dallas Arboretum, and highlights the nationally acclaimed Pumpkin Village, with pumpkin houses and creative exhibits that use more than 90,000 pumpkins, gourds, and squash. The festival began on September 21 and runs until October 31 features topiaries of the Charlie Brown characters’ Linus, Sally, Franklin, Snoopy, Woodstock, Lucy, Schroeder, Peppermint Patty, Marcie, and Pig-Pen. Named one of \u201cAmerica\u2019s Best Pumpkin Festivals\u201d by Fodor\u2019s Travel, the festival features breathtaking colors of fall including 150,000 autumn flowers accented by pumpkins, gourds, and squash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mission of Groundwork Dallas is to regenerate, sustain, and improve the Dallas Elm Fork Greenbelt and Great Trinity Forest by developing community-based partnerships that educate and empower people, businesses, and organizations to promote environmental stewardship. Everyone deserves a green, healthy, and resilient environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Join as a volunteer at Groundwork Dallas at Hines Park on October 5, and help clean up the forest and the pond by removing litter and debris, pruning and trimming along paths, and beautification throughout. The State Fair of Texas began on September 27 and ends on October 20, is the longest-running fair in the nation with 24 consecutive days of entertainment, food, and activities celebrating everything related to Texas. For this year, the theme of the fair is “Celebrating Texas Creativity” in order to highlight Texan artistry and as a celebration of creativity that has propelled Texas forward.
